In particular, brake discs are subject to wear. Have these safety-critical components regularly inspected by an expert orFischer customer service techni- cian for wear and replace them, if necessary.

If you ride on a long or very steep slo- pe, do not brake constantly or only using one brake. This

could lead to the brakes over- heating and loss of braking force.

You are braking properly and safely if you use both brakes equally. The only excepti- on is if you are cycling in slippery conditions such as on sand or a smooth surface. You should then exercise great care, slowing yourself down using the rear brake. Otherwi- se there is the risk of the front wheel slipping out to the side and causing a fall. Brakes and brake systems are parts that can be vital to your safety. You should therefore service them on a regular basis. This requires specialist know- ledge and special tools. Leave all work on your pedelec to a specialist/Fischer custo- mer service technician! Work that is impro- perly carried out is a risk to your safety on the pedelec! No oil-based liquids should ever be applied to brake pads, rim brake sur- faces, brake shoes or brake discs. These substances reduce the effectiveness of the brakes.

If your pedelec comes equipped with a converter, which makes it possible to operate hydraulic bra- kes with mechanical brake levers, read the attached component manufacturer’s opera- ting instructions before using it. Almost all modern brakes provide considerably more braking power than was available for bicycles/pe- delecs in the past. Carefully familiarise your-
